PROPOSED GROUPS - SEEKING INTEREST

Podcast Productions Group

Is anyone interested in joining a small 'Podcast Productions' group? The initial objective would be to produce one or more short demo podcasts and decide where to take the idea from there. Please contact A. Marples: podcasts@yorku3a.com

 A podcast is a digital audio recording that can be shared over the internet. Producing a podcast, might appeal to:

  • creative writers who want to read aloud - a short story perhaps, or an anthology of poetry;

  • scriptwriters who are interested in editing and adapting existing written work for spoken word presentation;

  • play readers who would like to try voice acting in the style of a radio drama, and

  • IT enthusiasts who are keen to explore sound recording apps such as Apple's Garage Band

added 22/4/19

History of York and its Suburbs  - John Bibby is happy to be a point of contact for the potential to restart this group. Will anybody who has been involved in the past or who may be interested in developing it in the future please contact him via jb43@york.ac.uk or 01904-330334

Interested in Shakespeare?

I am proposing a Shakespeare Study course, which would be a look at Shakespeare's playwriting career in a sequential order. It would involve me giving a short introductory talk, then having a close look at a few key speeches from the chosen play, then a DVD.

If this sounds interesting to you, please contact Shakespearestudy@yorku3a.com

Folk and Fairy tales

We think of fairy tales -  not quite the same as folktales, but they overlap – as the stuff of the nursery, but they were never meant for children, and some are much too dark. Folk and fairy tales are often ancient, began before the written word became universal, and lie close to the roots of narrative. They have been changed by writing, and continue to be re-told and re-interpreted. We would probably use one book of tales each term (to be agreed at a first meeting), usually obtainable inexpensively second-hand.

If you are interested and want to find out more please contact Graham Frater at folkandfairy@yorku3a.com
